When most of us think of braces, we imagine teenagers with metal hardware in their mouths. This is no longer the only type of braces available. ClearCorrect aligners offer a discreet solution for orthodontic issues.

But teens aren’t the only people who need orthodontic correction. Adults are beginning to understand the importance of correcting malocclusions and misalignment for their oral health.

ClearCorrect aligners straighten teeth, adjust bites, and improve adults’ smiles while being removable and invisible. If you are an adult seeking orthodontic treatment, consider ClearCorrect aligners for their comfort, discretion, and oral hygiene benefits.

Which Adults Can Benefit From ClearCorrect Aligners?

While your dentist makes the final decision about the best course of action for your oral health, some general factors make adults good candidates for ClearCorrect. If you are an adult with gapped or crowded teeth, ClearCorrect may be for you.

If you have an underbite, overbite, or crossbite, ClearCorrect can help. ClearCorrect aligners are for teeth with less than 20° of misaligned rotation. However, they are unable to adjust teeth vertically. If your teeth are not severely misaligned, you have all your adult teeth, and you can adhere to the maintenance requirements, then ClearCorrect aligners are for you.

What are ClearCorrect Aligners?

ClearCorrect aligners are removable clear thermoplastic trays. The ClearCorrect process begins with the dentist taking precise 3D images of your mouth and bite. The images are put into a computer program that the orthodontist uses to create a treatment plan for your new smile.

The 3D images are sent to a lab to create your aligners, also called trays. Once you get fitted with a set of aligners, wear them for at least 22 hours a day for one to two weeks.

Then you replace the trays with a new set that continues to adjust your teeth and bite in accordance with your treatment plan. Your treatment time depends on several individual factors, such as how much rotation your teeth need for proper alignment.

On average, ClearCorrect treatment plans are 12-18 months long.

ClearCorrect Aligners Benefits

Since the aligners are removable for up to four hours a day, ClearCorrect patients have the freedom to remove their trays for eating, oral hygiene, and important moments like work presentations.

ClearCorrect aligners have no food restrictions like traditional braces. With conventional braces, hard foods like nuts can damage the hardware. Gum, hard candy, and popcorn are all foods you can enjoy with ClearCorrect that are not allowed with conventional braces.

Traditional braces make it hard to remove plaque buildup from the teeth because it is hard to floss and brush effectively around the permanent hardware. ClearCorrect allows users to maintain excellent oral hygiene practices and reinsert their trays.

To keep trays clean, users just need to brush them with a soft-bristled toothbrush and clear antibacterial liquid soap or cleaning crystals every night and then rinse them thoroughly.
