Clear Aligner Therapy

Clear aligner therapy is the discreet way to address orthodontics issues like gaps in teeth, misalignments, overcrowding, and bite problems. ClearCorrect aligners are removable, invisible retainers for teenagers and adults who want to improve their smile, adjust their bite, and straighten their teeth.

While clear aligner therapy is not suitable for everyone, it is an excellent alternative to traditional metal braces.

How Clear Aligner Therapy Works

At A Dental Place, we offer ClearCorrect, a clear aligner therapy consisting of customized thermoplastic retainers. During your initial dental visit, your dentist takes 3D images of your mouth and creates a personalized treatment plan. Your 3D images and treatment plan goes to a lab that forms your clear aligner trays.

The clear aligner trays are removable but should remain in your mouth, except for eating, drinking, and cleaning each day. You need to wear them 22 hours a day for clear aligner therapy to effectively straighten your teeth.

Every one to two weeks, the ClearCorrect lab sends your next aligner trays for you to use. Each successive set of trays exerts pressure on your teeth to move them in accordance with your dentist’s treatment plan.

As the aligners move your teeth, osteoblast cells rebuild the bone around your teeth to set them in their new position.

Who Should Get Clear Aligner Therapy?

While it is up to your dentist to determine if ClearCorrect is right for you, clear aligner therapy is best for patients with mild to moderate orthodontics issues. Clear aligner therapy does not help solve impacted teeth, may be inadequate for large gaps in teeth and is ineffective for severe molar crowding and misalignment.

Clear aligners effectively close gaps in teeth of 2-4mm. They are effective in treating midline discrepancies up to 2-3mm. They can rotate incisors up to 40°, canines and premolars up to 45°, and molars up to 20°. By adjusting incisors, the aligners reduce overbites by up to .3mm.

Clear aligner therapy is beneficial for patients who struggle with gum health. Since ClearCorrect aligner trays are removable, it is much easier to brush and floss than with traditional metal braces. Studies show that patients with clear aligner therapy have less gum disease-causing bacteria buildup than patients with traditional braces.

The trays need to be brushed when you brush your teeth and soaked in a retainer or denture cleanser for a couple of minutes.
