Cleanings and Exams
Regular dental visits with an experienced dentist ensure your teeth and gums remain healthy. Your dentist manually examines your smile during your check-up for signs of tooth decay or gum disease. Early detection allows your dentist to repair and restore your smile using the most conservative and minimally invasive procedures.
Your hygienist gives your teeth a deep clean, using a high-speed handpiece to loosen and remove built-up tartar on the teeth and gum line. They then polish your teeth using mildly abrasive toothpaste to eliminate minor stains and biofilms that trap bacteria and contribute to enamel erosion.
Oral Cancer Screening
During your dental exam, your dentist may perform an oral cancer screening. They check your mouth for signs of abnormalities, such as red and white patches or mouth sores. They will also use their gloved hands to feel your throat, neck, and the soft tissues inside your mouth for lumps.
Dental Fillings
If you have tooth decay, a minor chip or crack, or your teeth are slightly worn from teeth grinding or age, we can apply dental fillings to restore your teeth’s function and appearance.
At A Dental Place, we use tooth-colored composite resin to ensure your fillings blend seamlessly with your natural teeth. We also want to ensure that you are comfortable throughout your filling treatment. We gently apply numbing gel and local anesthetic to the gum tissue around the affected tooth before starting the treatment.
After removing the decay or damaged portion of the tooth, your dentist applies an etching gel to the tooth to help the composite resin adhere properly. Your dentist places the filling layer by layer, curing each with a specialized light to harden the resin. After filling the tooth, your dentist checks your bite and shapes and polishes your restored tooth.
Periodontal Treatments
Gum disease is one of the leading causes of tooth loss in adults. However, it is easily manageable with early detection and treatment.
Mild gum disease (gingivitis) is caused by inflammation due to plaque and bacteria build-up along and below the gum line. It is characterized by swollen, red gums and gums that bleed easily when brushing and flossing. If you have symptoms of gingivitis, our dentists at A Dental Place can help eliminate bacteria and plaque to rejuvenate your smile.
We use scaling and root planing procedures at A Dental Place to address gum disease. Scaling involves manually removing plaque from the gum line and gum pockets with a scraper and mechanically using an ultrasonic scaler. Root planing involves smoothing the tooth root, preventing bacterial growth, and allowing the gum tissue to reattach more effectively.
Kids Dentistry
Bringing your kids for regular dental visits allows your dentist to monitor their oral health, ensuring their teeth and gums grow healthy and strong. Schedule a visit when your child’s first tooth emerges on or around their first birthday. This allows them to become familiar with a dental practice’s sights, sounds, and smells, reducing the risk of anxiety.
Kids’ teeth are vulnerable to cavities. In addition to educating on proper oral hygiene, we can apply sealants to the cusps and chewing surfaces of your child’s back teeth. This prevents food and plaque build-up that can lead to decay. We also offer fluoride treatments to remineralize teeth and minimize enamel erosion.
